Day 1

When Kate and I arrived here we walked from the bus stop into the main part of town where our hostel "Monteverde Backpackers" was located. The hostel was really nice; it kind of reminded me of a cabin with the wooden walls and bedrooms. It definitely had that home-y feeling while travelling! The guy who was in charge of the hostel while were staying there was Bryan. Bryan is really sweet, but also sarcastic and has an amazing sense of humor. We really enjoyed his company, hopefully he will be there if you decide to visit. On our first day in Monteverde Kate (my best friend and travel buddy), Demtri, Shawna (our great friends from California we met on our first day and did not seperate from the entire trip), and myself all went to Restaurante Sabor Tico for some traditional casado and ceviche. The food here was really good and the view is lovely. Afterwards we went zip lining with Monteverde Extremo Canopy. It was AMAZING. It even poured down rain at one point during the tour but it just made the experience that much better. The rain looks and feels incredible when you are surrounded by a lush green rainforest. My favorite part of the zip was the Superman! After our tour we went to the supermarket located right next to the hostel with our friends from and bought food to have a barbeque. That evening we had drinks at the hostel with our dinner and stayed there until Bryan finished his shift at the hostel so he could take us out and show us a night on the town! We went to a dance bar called Amigos followed by a reggae bar. Both places were fun and friendly. All of our friends from the hostel stuck together all night and we danced all night!

Day 2

Today Kate, Shawna, and I went to breakfast at a restaurant called Tree House Restaurante & Cafe. Their coffee is amazing and we all shared a few pizza's...pizza is a breakfast food, right? Afterwards we walked up some serious hills on a mission to find "the big tree". We were walking for ages in what felt like the wrong direction due to Bryans vague hand drawn map. After walking so long and up so many steep hills we couldn't find it so we decided to turn back. We get to the bottom on the hill where we first started and stop a taxi driver and ask him if we were in the right location to find the tree. He points to the giant hill we had just climbed and says "that way". We all chipped in a dollar and the taxi driver drove us back to the top ha-ha! It was well worth the adventure, check it out if you are there it's truly not that hard to find if you have a good set of directions. We all had a turn climbing the big tree it was really fun! Kate and I walked the entire town that day, it's such a quiet and peacefully little place. That night we went and watched Bryan’s soccer game at the local stadium. Kate, Shawna, and I cheered him on as loud as we could and he scored so many goals!! He's a fantastic player!

PURA VIDA :)
